    Diese Norm gilt für Hauptmasse, Eckbeschläge und Prüfungen der Binnencontainer in geschlossener Bauart nach DIN 15190 Teil 102, die im nationalen und internationalen Verkehr Schiene/Strasse eingesetzt werden. Sie gilt nicht im internationalen Überseeverkehr. Ihre Merkmale sind jedoch den ISO-Containern der Reihe 1 nach DIN ISO 1496 Teil 1 sowie dem UIC-Merkblatt 592-2 weitgehend angeglichen. Binnencontainer nach dieser Norm erfüllen die Bedingungen des "Gesetz zu dem Übereinkommen vom 2. Dezember 1972 über sichere Container vom 10. Februar 1976 (CSC)". Beim Befördern von Binnencontainern auf der Schiene sind die Lastgrenzen der zum Transport benutzten Tragwagen zu beachten. Beim Befördern auf der Strasse sind die zulässigen Achslasten, Gesamtgewichte und Masse der Strassenfahrzeuge nach der Strassenverkehrs-Zulassungsordnung (StVZO) zu beachten.
