This Standard is included in DIN Handbook 405 E. Applies to the stainless steel listed in Table 1. These steels are commonly used in the form of work-hardened wire up to about 10 mm in diameter or of strip up to about 1,6 mm thick for the manufacture of springs and sprung components which are to be exposed to corrosive agents and occasionally to slightly elevated temperatures (see Clause A.1). It does not, however, apply to flat products rolled from wire, known as flat wire.
