This standard, in conjunction with DIN 1988 Parts 1 to 5 and Parts 7 and 8, applies to the design, installation, operation and maintenance of fire fighting installations to be used to extinguish fire or prevent it spreading in buildings and their curtilages. It specifies requirements for installations carrying drinking water and non-drinking water and, in particular, deals with the connection of such installations to the drinking water supply system.
