    Die Norm ist Grundlage der Linienführung von Gleisen im Bergbau unter Tage. Die Linienführung der Gleise ist mitbestimmend bei der Planung und Auffahrung des Streckennetzes, da beispielweise Gleisbogen und Streckenabzweigungen von Einfluss auf Fahrgeschwindigkeit der Züge und Abnutzung des festen und rollenden Materials sind. Auch Streckenquerschnitt und Wagen müssen aufeinander abgestimmt sein.
