    Es werden Empfehlungen über die Methode der Fehlerbaumanalyse, über Bildzeichen und deren Benutzung bei der Untersuchung von Systemausfällen gegeben Das Verfahrenkann für Systeme aller Art verwendet werden. Bei der Auswertung von Fehlerbäumen (nicht Gegenstand von DIN 25424 Teil 1) können auch zeitliche Abhängigkeiten z.B. in Form von Reparaturen, Inspektionsstrategien usw. berücksichtigt werden.
