Explanatory notes
Specifies the strength calculation of plain (i.e. not ribbed) valve body components subjected to pressure and made from metallic materials. Within the meaning of this standard, the components discussed here include valve bodies proper and valve body closures and ends such as heads, covers, flanged and special closures. Inserted components subjected to pressure such as gate valve discs and globe valve plugs shall be treated in a similar fashion.
