Determines the pH value which is of great importance for the operation of water treatment processes (for example flocculation or disinfection by chlorine) and for draining-off and, particularly, for biological treatment of sewage or direct discharge of sewage. It is also the most important variable used in assessing the chemical corrosive properties of aquatic environments and waste waters.
