Determines the action of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) which is partly carcinogenic. They occur in nearly all waters both undissolved, adsorbed on solids (sediments, suspended matter) and also dissolved in water. PAH concentrations can be substantially reduced by applying effective physiochemical water treatment.
