Determines the content of absorbed and occluded organically bound halogens (AOX) in sludge and sediments in which the amount of these substances exceeds 1 mg per kg of solids. Provided the volatile organically bound halogen content is low, as may be the case in sewage sludge, the approximate total organically bound halogen content can be determined by this method, DIN 38414 Part 17 being used to determine extractable organically bound halogens.
