The data refer to ground plans which are symmetrical about two axes and in which the vertical central load is applied in the centre of gravity (see Supplement to DIN 1054, Explanations). A vertical central load is also present in the case of walls with soil pressure loads if the horizontal forces are countered by appropriate stiffening (see Figure 1 of DIN 4017 Part 1). This deals only with those cases where the sliding zones reach the surface of the ground but where the shear forces in the lateral soil, between the terrain and the bearing surface can be ignored. It does not apply to pile foundations or, in general, to area foundations, but only to foundation structures which are founded flat in a bearing stratum.
