Specifies a method of determining wear elements (iron, copper, lead, silicon, tin, chromium and aluminium) in used lubricating oils by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy. The information obtained is used to assess the suitability of such oils for reuse and to detect excessive wear in engines and gears.
