A method is specified for determining the apparent density at room temperature of machined cylindrical carbon or graphite electrodes (as in DIN 48601) of nominal diameter up to 750 mm. The apparent density of an electrode varies with its method of manufacture, and (together with other properties) can be used to assess electrode quality.
