Diese Norm dient zur Bestimmung des spezifischen Durchgangswiderstandes, durch den das 'innere' elektrische Isoliervermögen von Gläsern (siehe auch DIN 53 482/VDE 0303 Teil 3) gekennzeichnet wird. Diese Norm gilt für alle technisch vorkommenden Gläser. Ihre Anwendung beschränkt sich zu hohenTemperaturen hin auf Temperaturen bis 50 grad C unterhalb der Transformationstemperatur und zu tiefen Temperaturen hin auf Temperaturen, bei denen die Oberflächenleitfähigkeit der Probe durch Feuchtigkeit vernachlässigbar ist; bei Umgebungstemperaturen ist das im allgemeinen nicht mehr der Fall.
