Mit dem Prüfverfahren nach dieser Norm sollen die Spannungen, die nach dem Verschmelzen von Glas mit Metallband im Glas auftreten können, mit Hilfe der Spannungsdoppelbrechung bestimmt werden (siehe auch Erläuterungen). Die gemessenen Spannungen dienen als Grundlage zur vergleichenden Beurteilung von Glas-Metallband-Verschmelzungen.
