The testing is used for assessing the gas transmission rate (permeation by permanent gases, e.g. 02, CO2, N2 and mixtures thereof 1)) of plastic films, and hence their suitability, for example, for the packaging of vulnerable commodities from the organic and inorganic sectors. The gas transmission rate is measured under defined conditions by determining the volume of gas which has passed through the specimen.
