Explanatory notes

Specifies methods of testing the visco-elastic behaviour of polymer materials as a function of the temperature at low frequencies (in the range of approximately 0,1 to 10 Hz) and at low strain with the aid of a torsional pendulum. The methods serve to establish the temperature ranges in which the material shows an elastic behaviour like steel or rubber, or is viscous and in which it passes from one state to the other (transition range). This make it possible to classify polymer materials according to their mechanical behaviour (see DIN 7724) as a function of the temperature.
