DETERMINING THE ABSORPTION OF HOT PLASTICIZERS BY POLYVINYL CHLORIDES (PVCS) USING THE PLANETARY MIXER METHOD

Superseded date

Published date

Aims to determine the amount of plasticizer, in this case di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DOP) (cf.subclause 7.2) absorbed at 75 degrees C by general-purpose PVC and the absorption rate during mixing. A knowledge of the plasticizer absorption and the hot absorption rate at 75 degrees C is important to assess the suitability of a PVC polymer for dry blending operations in combination with plasticizers.
