Diese als VDE-Bestimmung gekennzeichnete Norm gilt für zwei- und mehrpolige Steckverbinder mit Schutzkontakt, mit einer Nennspannung von ~250 V und ~380/220 V und einem Nennstrom von 16 A, zum Verbinden in Installationssystemen, z.B. in Fertighäusern, Möbeln, Installationshohlräumen, wie Doppelböden, abgehängten Decken usw. Es wird vorausgesetzt, dass die Umgebungstemperatur normalerweise 25 grad C nicht überschreitet, jedoch gelegentlich 35 grad C erreichen kann.
