Explanatory notes

Applies to dip slides used for cultivating bacteria from the urine of patients. Dip slides are intended to be used once only. The number of colonies grown under incubation per unit surface area is used as a basis for an appropriate bacterial count. Identification of the organisms on the basis of the colony morphology and the growth on different culture media and sensitivity testing are not possible with the dip slide. Dip slides can also be used as transport media as defined. The container of the dip slide shall not be used as a urine sampling container.
