This applies to thermal waistcoats generally worm for outdoor work in winter and serving to reduce heat loss from the torso, and hence to maintain the health of the wearer. Such waistcoats may also be worm instead of removable linings designed for wear with DIN 61536 coated winterproof outfits, or in conjunction with DIN 61539 weatherproof outfits.
