A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Diese Norm enthält eine Auswahl von international erhältlichen Schmierstoffen, die für die spanenden Werkzeugmaschinen geeignet und gebräuchlich sind. Die Hersteller von Werkzeugmaschinen sollten hieraus für die Schmierpläne ihrer verschiedenen Maschinentypen jeweils eine Mindestanzahl möglichst vielseitig verwendbarer Schmierstoffe festlegen. Dadurch werden Wartung und Lagerhaltung beim Anwender der Maschinen Vereinfacht. Sonderfälle erfordern noch die Abstimmung zwischen Maschinenhersteller und -anwender.
