A method of specifying general requirements for eletrodeposited coatings applied to metallic materials for corrosion protection is established in this european standard. The standard is for use together with other european standards which specify the electrodeposited coating required, e.g. prEN12329 'Corrosion protection of metals - Electrodeposited coatings of zinc with supplementary treatment on steel or iron'. It does not specify requirements for the finish, condition or surface roughness of the basis metal prior to the coating process. It is not applicable to coatings on sheet (or coil), wire or strip in the unfabricated from.
