IEC 60034-18-31 beschreibt Prüfverfahren für die thermische Bewertung und Klassifizierung von Isoliersystemen, die in drehenden elektrischen Wechsel- oder Gleichstrommaschinen mit vorgeformten Wicklungselementen und indirekter Kühlung. Ziel ist, das Verhalten eines Erprobungs-Isoliersystems während der Prüfung mit dem eines Referenz-Isoliersystems mit nachgewiesener Betriebserfahrung zu vergleichen.
