Die vorliegende Norm gilt für oberflächenmontierbare (SMD) Festwiderstände zur Verwendung in Geräten der Elektronik. Diese Norm legt für die beschriebene Art von Widerständen die bevorzugten Bemessungs- und Kennwerte fest, wählt aus IEC 60115-1 die geeigneten Qualitätsbewertungsverfahren, Prüf- und Messmethoden aus und nennt allgemeine Anforderungen an das Betriebsverhalten.
