GUIDE FOR THE INCLUSION OF RELIABILITY CLAUSES INTO SPECIFICATIONS FOR COMPONENTS (OR PARTS) FOR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
23-07-2013
12-01-2013
Guides writers of specifications and Technical Committee in the factors which should be considered in the inclusion of quantitative reliability clauses in specifications. Applies mainly to the case where a constant failure is assumed. Two basic approaches can be followed: reliability compliance testing (Approach A) and reliability determination testing (Approach B). When the main purpose is to establish whether a specified failure rate has been met. Approach A should be used. When the main purpose is to evaluate the reliability of the product, Approach B should be used. Both approaches apply to the testing of an individual inspection lot or to the testing of components which are essentially in continuous production.
