Diese Norm ist dafür vorgesehen, die IEC 61108-1 (GPS) und IEC 61108-2 (GLONASS) um eine Norm für einen Seefunkempfänger für das weltweite Navigations-Satellitensystem Galileo, das gegenwärtig in Europa entwickelt wird, zu ergänzen.
