In diesem Teil von IEC 61300 wird das Verfahren zur Messung der Moden-Übertragungsfunktion (MTF - mode transfer function) beschrieben, welches zur Charakterisierung der Einkopplungsbedingungen bei den Messungen der Dämpfung oder Rückstreudämpfung von passiven Mehrmoden-Bauteilen anzuwenden ist. Die MTF darf bei den Betriebswellenlängen gemessen werden.
