Diese Norm legt die spezifische Abbildung von Kommunikationsdiensten für die Übertragung abgetasteter Werte entsprechend der Festlegung der abstrakten Schnittstelle nach IEC 61850-7-2 fest. Die Abbildung in Verbindung mit IEC 61850-8-1 für die Übertragung der abgetasteten Werte geschieht in Gestalt eines Abstraktmodells in gemischter Schichtung mit direktem Zugriff auf eine Verbindungsschicht nach ISO/IEC 8802-3.
