    Dieser Teil von ISO 10817 enthält Festlegungen, durch die sich vergleichbare Messergebnisse ermitteln lassen, um die Überwachung und Bewertung von Wellenschwingungen nach den Normen der Reihe ISO 7919 zu ermöglichen. Daher wird hauptsächlich die Messung von Wellenschwingungen grosser Maschinen behandelt (z. B. Dampfturbinen-Generatorsätze, Gasturbinen, Industrieturbosätze, Wasserkraftmaschinen). Dieser Teil von ISO 10817 gilt für Messeinrichtungen zur Erfassung sowohl der relativen als auch der absoluten radialen Wellenschwingungen. Es werden der Wandler (d. h. der Schwingungsaufnehmer), die Signalverstärkung, Ankopplungsverfahren und die Kalibrierung behandelt.
