    Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des mittleren thermischen Längenausdehnungskoeffizienten von Glas im elastischfesten Zustand, genügend weit unterhalb der Transformatibnstemperatur (siehe ISO 7884-8) fest. Diese Internationale Norm ist anwendbar auf alle Massengläser üblicher Zusammensetzung. Sie ist nicht anwendbar auf reines Kieselglas, Glaskeramik und andere Gläser mit vergleichbar niedrigen linearen Längenausdehnungskoeffizienten.
