Proposes the adoption of IEC 61508-2:2000, which provides designers of safety lifecycle activities in systems comprised of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic devices with the requirements for techniques and measures that are graded against safety integrity levels, for the avoidance and control of faults and failures. Copies of IEC 61508-2:2000 can be purchased from or viewed at the Sydney Research and Information Centre of Standards Australia.
