The proposed Standard is generally technically equivalent to the 1989 edition but has been expanded to include requirements for electrical equipment protected by intrinsic safety, increased safety and pressurization techniques. Other changes include the replacement of the term 'authorized person' by 'competent person'. Requirements for flameproof equipment have been amended to align with AS 2380.2-1991, Electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres - Explosion-protection techniques, Part 2: Flameproof enclosure d.
