Proposes a generic cabling system for buildings which is application independent and which is relatively simple and economical to modify. It is targeted at, but not limited to, the general office environment in single buildings and multiple buildings as on a campus. It is optimized for premises having a geographical span of up to 3000 m with up to 1 000 000 m(sup)2 of office space and a population between 50 and 50 000 persons. The cabling defined covers a wide range of services including voice, data, text, image and video. This proposed Standard describes the structure and minimum configuration of generic cabling, implementation requirements, performance of individual cabling links, and conformance requirements together with verification procedures. This proposed Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard incorporates ISO/IEC DIS 11801 together with Appendices which indicate variations from the ISO/IEC document to suit conditions in Australia and New Zealand, and provide additional items for useful information.
