Proposes revised requirements for the design, construction and performance of bulk milk cooling and storage systems on farms. The proposed new edition of the Standard takes account of new developments such as larger, externally-installed storage tanks, precooling of milk before entering the storage vessel and greater flexibility in milk volume measuring devices provided they are approved by the National Standards Commission. The performance test protocol has been deleted as the former test house facility is no longer available in Australia and, in any case, would not have been suitable for testing larger systems. In place of the previous formal test protocol, the proposed new edition emphasizes cooling performance specifications to be certified by the manufacturer. Proposed as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
