Proposes requirements and criteria for the periodic inspection, repair and alteration of in-service boilers, pressure vessels, associated control and safety equipment, and piping. Criteria are given for the selection of intervals between internal and external inspections of boilers, pressure vessels and piping; as well as for the assessment of defects and deterioration. Guidance on repairs, modifications, and re-rating are included. Provision is made for owners to carry out statutory inspections. This proposed Standard provides a basis for establishing the competence of inspection personnel and may be used by Inspecting Authorities to set minimum standards of inspection. Proposed as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
