Proposes requirements for power-operated stairway lifts intended for use by persons with limited mobility. The lifts consist of a carriage, incorporating a platform, or a chair, or both, for raising or lowering persons along stairways. Guidance on maintenance, inspection, and testing, and on selection of lift type is given in appendices.
