Proposes general requirements for bodies operating accreditation systems; intended to promote equivalence of national systems and facilitate mutual recognition between such bodies which are concerned with the recognition of competence. Identical with and reproduced from ISO/IEC Guide 61:1996. Guide 61 is currently available in Australia and New Zealand as the Handbook, SAA/SNZ HB18.61:1996. It is now proposed to publish it as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard suitable for use by accreditation and certification bodies in both countries.
