Proposes the adoption of IEC 60922:1997, which specifies general and safety requirements for ballasts for discharge lamps such as high-pressure mercury vapour, low-pressure sodium vapour, high-pressure sodium vapour and metal halide lamps, but not for tubular fluorescent lamps. These requirements cover inductive ballasts for use on a.c. supplies up to 1000 V at 50 or 60 Hz. Proposed as a Joint Australian/ New Zealand Standard. Copies of IEC 60922:1997 may be purchased from or viewed at any Standards Australia office or at Standards New Zealand.
