Proposes revised guidelines for organizations to achieve excellence through continual improvement of the performance of their business. It focuses on improving the internal processes of an organization to enhance business performance. It gives comprehensive guidance on the application of quality management and describes what processes quality management systems should encompass. When used with the revision of ISO 9001, it will form part of a consistent pair of International Standards that together will incorporate all aspects of a quality management system. This draft is identical with the first Committee Draft issued by ISO/TC 176, the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee on Quality Management and Quality Assurance, and prepared by the Working Group (ISO/TC 176/SC 2/WG 18) under that Committee. When published it will supersede the 1994 edition of ISO 9004.1 and other parts of ISO 9004.
