Proposes the adoption of ISO 1496-2:1996 as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard. ISO 1496-2 specifies basic requirements for the specification and testing of series 1 thermal containers, which are suitable for international exchange and for conveyance by road, rail and sea, including interchange between these forms of transport. Requirements for series R thermal containers for Australia only are contained in an appendix. Additional appendices contain dimensions for grappler arm and straddle lifting areas for series R containers.
