Proposes the adoption of ISO/IEC 14478-3:1998, which specifies a set of software components which marshal lower-level system resources to the task of supporting multimedia processing so providing a set of common services which can be used by multimedia application developers. The complete text can be purchased from or viewed at the Sydney Information Centre of Standards Australia or at Standards New Zealand head office. Proposed as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
