This European standard applies for portable pump sets using fire-fighting centrifugal pumps conforming to prEN 1028. Portable pumps are motor pumps designed for firefighting which can be transported by hand to the site of operation and which are driven by a combustion engine. Portable pumps are intended not to be permanently mounted in firefighting and rescue service vehicles.This European standard deals with the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events, arising from portable pumps used as intended or arising from conditions foreseen by the manufacturer or the manufacturer's authorized representative. It addresses the construction, setting, and operation of the portable pump. The significant hazards are listed in clause 4.This European standard specifies the safety and performance requirements for portable pumps classified in clause 7, and their associated tests.NOTE 1The testing may also be applied to portable pumps whose pumps are outside of the classification in clause 7. Details are to be agreed between the vendor and the purchaser.This European standard applies for portable pumps used in ambient temperatu-res between -15 °C and 35 °C.NOTE 2For special conditions out of this temperature range see 5.2.10.1.This European standard does not apply to portable pumps of which the only power source is directly applied manual effort.
