A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Additional information is provided to the user by classifications to form and function, and the examples of application. EN 60417-1 and 60417-2 cancel and replace EN 60417 and all its supplements.
