ULTRASONIC PROBES: NORMAL (0 DEGREES) COMPRESSION WAVE PROBES FOR CONTACT TESTING
23-07-2013
12-01-2013
Details the performance required of both single and twin crystal, normal (0 deg) compression probes for contact testing whose overall crystal width or diameter lies in the range 5 mm to 28 mm and whose nominal frequency is between 1 and 5 MHz. Applies to both hard and soft faced single crystal probes, but not to single crystal probes having a plastic stand-off. In the case of twin crystal probes the Standard is limited to those which the length of each crystal does not exceed 2.5 times the width of each crystal. Probes generating short pulses, or incorporating curved crystals or acoustic lenses are not covered. Does not cover twin crystal probes whose stand-offs have been contoured for special applications, but they should meet the requirements of this Standard prior to being contoured.
