Describes harmonized concepts, tests and requirements to ensure that ISDN equipment to be used with ISDN primary rate access is portable within Europe in relation to protection and safety. Does not cover aspects of safety not related to communication, but attention is drawn to the provisions of EN 60950 (the most relevant European safety standard for the equipment covered by this standard). Identifies the following conditions: an "unexposed environment" and a "controlled situation". The tests are meant to represent normal conditions: when both an unexposed environment and a controlled situation exist. The environment is assumed always to be unexposed for primary rate access interfaces.
