Defines generic requirements for a dedicated data link connecting an end-office Stored Program Control Switching System (SPCS) with Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). This link supplies useful information to end users regarding their incoming calls without using the voice path for any data transmission purposes, and so the customer's conversation will not be interrupted for any amount of time. Data transmission will be possible in both off-hook and on-hook states and is full duplex. The modem at the SPCS will support transmission at 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600 bits per second (bps).
