Presents a detailed description of an application of the Software Management Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) information model to software download and memory restoration. It details the managed object classes and their attributes, packages, actions and notifications that are pertinent to the software download and memory restoration processes and gives a baseline information model. Programs and data tables of a Network Element (NE) are together known as software generic and service database, respectively. Based on the perspective of service providers, software management involves updating in existing software generic and restoring a corrupted service database; known as software download and memory restoration.
