Provides an alphabetical list of terms and definitions extracted from Australian building and construction Standards issued up to the end of March 1992, and definitions from the Building Code of Australia 1990 and State/Territory Appendices (including Amendments 1 and 2). It is targeted to assist all areas of the building and construction industry, including designers, builders, producers and suppliers, information managers, regulators, technicians and tradesmen, and students to find appropriate terms and definitions for their work; to support the Building Code of Australia and other national documents of a statutory nature with a comprehensive list of standardized technical definitions; to point out clearly and unambiguously any unnecessary variety and overlaps in technical and administrative definitions for use in building, and thereby assist technical committees in the rationalization of such definitions; and to permit the identification of any gaps in terminology and technical definitions used in building regulations and standards so that such gaps may be filled. Appendices provide a list of the Australian Standards used and glossaries related to building and construction.
