This Code is intended to cover domestic refrigerator and freezer systems and has been developed with the intention of reducing emissions into the atmosphere of refrigerants listed in Appendix 2, or any other fluorocarbon refrigerant.Commercial and industrial refrigeration and air-conditioning, residential air-conditioning and motor vehicle air-conditioning systems are the subject of separate codes.Design and manufacture of domestic refrigerators is not covered by this Code (see Australian Standard AS 1430—1986.) Environmental benefits and cost savings from reduced refrigerant losses and reduced servicing can be expected from the application of this Code, including the use of alternative refrigerants.
