This Handbook provides guidance to the writers of design briefs, purchase specifications and similar documents (hereinafter referred to as 'specification writers') in the consideration of environmental aspects relating to the impact on the 'natural' environment by electrotechnical products, when preparing briefs, specifications or similar (referred to hereinafter as 'the specification') for such products.The term 'environment', as used in this Handbook, differs from the term as used in the IEC publications dealing with the impact of environmental conditions on electrotechnical products.NOTE: As regards the impact of environmental conditions on the performance of products, refer to IEC 68, IEC 721 and Guide 106 (see Appendix D).
